Tag 29: Hinterachse II, Bremsprobleme vorn

Keine Brenner-Aktionen, keine Flex. Gut. Also: Innen zwei Zaehne runter... sieht schon mal ganz stimmig aus :-)

Day 29: Rear axle part II, front brake problems

Luckily, there aren't any more problems with the rear axle. All screws were in good working order, something we didn't expext, and unlike in many other Porsche 911s, the cogging of the torsion bars was not seized up. No cutting, no torching. Great. We just had to lower it two cogs on the inside...looks good already. :-)

Unfortunately we have a bit of a problem with the front brake. The stupid bolt pattern of 5x112 on the BRMs forces us to use the Beetle brake discs with a Porsche bolt pattern of 5x130.The discs provide enough room and material for the re-drilling, both bearing seat and depth fit without a problem, but the diameter is 20mm larger than that of the Porsche discs (!). The conversion to the big Beetle discs however forces us to "down-convert" to the smaller Beetle caliper units. It's a bit silly, but our only option at the moment. Luckily I still had a set calipers lying around. That at least helps our meanwhile very overstretched wallets.
