After getting an alarming call of Matthias, telling me that something went wrong with the sealing, I decided to bug them with a visit tonight. He really did a good job with the masking, but unfortunately something was wrong with the chemical composition, the stuff didn't dry properly and got stringy, which messed up the whole engine compartment. Everything had to come off, the engine compartment needed to be washed out and then everything had to be started over. Very unfortunate.
After a bit of swearing, it all worked out rather well: The sills were prepared with gravel guard, the car was masked, then went off into the booth...quick rub with the anti-dust cloth, a last breeze of wet-filler for insulation and finally....gleaming white. While I am writing these lines, the painting is probably still in progress...We're getting there!
